We had quite a fun week! While cleaning out the utility room, I found this photograph from 1943 of our house:

I wish I could go back in time and meet the people living in it and see how it was decorated! 

Quinn had a check-up with the orthopedist this week. They did an x-ray and her hips are still looking great. Praise the Lord! It feels like that stage of life was forever ago already. She's 21 weeks old today. She also had a playdate with some Varsity House/Azalea House offspring. 

We've been progressing with some house projects. My craft project failed miserably, but at least I had a nice lunch with my dear pal Amber. I was attempting to make this doily globe for Quinn's room. It's a lamp in the tutorial, but I just wanted a nice globe to hang over Quinn's crib and changing table to keep her entertained. I didn't buy nearly enough doilies but tried it anyway. Oops. So we'll see what I scheme up for round two. We met with our friend Kyle the other night to discuss plans for our dining table. He's building a table and bench for us and we're really excited to see how it turns out. I think that will be our first big furniture change. 

On the homemaking front, I've been cooking up dozens of these cookies lately for visitors. It's such an easy recipe and the gluten free aspect allows all of our visitors to partake. Plus, they are scrumptious! My One Bite at a Time project of the week was to downsize my book and magazine collection. Our magazines are pretty under control since the only ones we receive are the monthly publications from Voice of the Martyrs, but I did tidy them up in a little standing folder box. Our books are a little out of control, but we have analyzed our collection over and over, and even more so right before we moved, so I think we are at our resting spot.

Jonathan's birthday was yesterday and he celebrated by having a bunch of guys over for food and Dominion. It's a really fun board game, definitely worth looking in to if you haven't heard of it. And we're set for another busy and fun weekend!

Two more curtains are hanging around in our house now! 

Last week, my Mom came up to visit and get lunch with my grandpa. Quinn sure liked staring at him.

Then, she entertained Quinn so I could complete the curtain for our front door made of this fabric. Thanks, Mom!

On Sunday, Jonathan wrangled Quinn so that I could complete curtains for her room made of this fabric that I have adored for years. I was inspired by this post about creating blackout curtains and had to try it myself. I didn't get to attaching the blackout fabric yet, but I will.

Oh, and a while ago I started hanging pictures and other goodies in Quinn's room via magenta ribbon on picture rail hooks. I have a craft planned for this week that I hope to share soon.

Also, Quinn met her betrothed this weekend. Isaiah and his parents were in town visiting family and stopped by our place for some lunch and conversation. We just adore his parents. Quinn and Isaiah held hands and stared at eachother, but mostly wiggled around and spit up on themselves, haha! He's one week older than her and very jolly.

On Wednesday, our darling daughter had the honor of working with the sweet Emily of Emily Leeds Photography to model some accessories for the Bons Enfants Etsy shop. Emily was great with Quinn, easily making her smile. And the hats and diaper covers were so cute and very well-made.

Quinn wore the new Spring hat and diaper cover sets; a bumble bee, a bunny, and a baseball.

As payment, Emily did an extra photo shoot of Quinn. I'll definitely be sharing some of those when I get them!

Can I just say I love living in the same state as my sister again? She came up for a visit this past weekend. It's just so great being in the same room as her. Quinn likes her too.

We had two different Corvallis families come visit the weekend before. One brought their adorable three year old girl and we showed them around "The Village". The other brought their three month old boy. Quinn was so entertained seeing another baby. 

We've had some other fun visitors the past week and a half. But we are also starting to get settled into routines and systems. One I'm excited to try was inspired by a blog post about grocery shopping online. I joined a drop point for Azure Standard this week. It's a bulk natural foods supplier and I am going to be able to get a ton of the food we eat for really good prices. I pick out everything I want online and pick it up every other week. They have staples like oats (I've been making granola non-stop around here), flour, honey, and yogurt as well as frozen fruits for smoothies, our favorite tortilla chips, really good ice cream, and more. I'll only need to go to the store for fresh meat and produce. Meal planning is about to get a lot simpler.

We're in our house! It's been a week and a half and it pretty much feels like home already. That doesn't mean everything is unpacked or organized, however. It's a slow steady process that occurs during naptimes. We've had three sets of dinner guests and some overnight guests already, which I think has helped make it feel homey. I'm excited to share all of my projects on here. 

I'm not sure whether to file this under nerdiness or home ownership, but I made curtains for the garage. It has three windows and I thought some privacy would be a good idea. The curtains were my first unsupervised sewing machine project and they turned out mostly alright. I need the practice because I am going to make a curtain for our front door and for Quinn's room. My Mom was gracious (and brave) enough to leave her machine with me after she visited this week. Here's a photo:

We also bought a car this week: a used Honda CR-V. It's so nice to not have to cram Quinn's car seat into the back of our little Scion anymore. We sure had a lot of fun memories in that car though! Moving to California, road trips, bringing Quinn home from the hospital...

Quinn turned four months old this week. The saying "The days are long, but the years are short" really is true! She had her four month check-up and the doctor said we can start thinking about solids soon. Solids! Where did my baby go!? Also, I think the sleeping through the night business was a week long fluke. She picked up her 5am meal again, oh well. A girl's got to eat. I met my friend's one day old baby boy Miles yesterday. He was so tiny and sleepy, I was smiling the rest of the day. It seems like forever ago that Quinn was that little.

It's been gorgeous weather here. I'm thinking my memories of rain must have been wrong. Or the clouds are just saving up for Spring. Our house gets so much natural light and I'm loving it. I can even dry the cloth diapers in the sun these days.
