Ah, wedding weekends. Our friends Matt and Holly (who Quinn talks about constantly) got married on Sunday. Jonathan was a groomsman, so Friday night he went the bachelor party in Portland. Another groomsman stayed at our house that night and then all the Portlanders carpooled to Corvallis Saturday. The rehearsal was at the best man's house. They have a beautiful backyard and garden. We all went to dinner and then Quinn and I stayed at my college friend Sara's new house. Quinn thought Sara's kids were pretty cool. We met with my dear friend Mary and her son for breakfast Sunday morning, had tea at my friend Kendra's house (while Quinn had a quick nap) and then zipped over to the wedding.

It was a very sweet wedding. We're so happy for Matt and Holly!

After the wedding, we grabbed dinner with some friends and then stayed at the Albers' house. Quinn thinks their daughter is the best. First thing in the morning Quinn wanted to go find her to play.
Monday was my birthday so we went out for breakfast and wandered around Corvallis. It was so fun to see old faces and places. I loved getting to catch up with old friends. But I love returning to our house. There were blueberries and veggies waiting for us, and a giant dahlia welcoming us home. We went to our favorite restaurant for dinner and stuffed ourselves and ended the evening at the park, as usual. After late nights and short naps, Quinn was ready to crash, as were we. Lots of living this weekend. A great birthday. I couldn't ask for better. God's been spoiling me for 29 years running.

Last weekend we were in Eugene. In honor of Jonathan's grandma's birthday, a bunch of relatives from Southern California came up for a family reunion. There was a lot of laughs, stories, and great food. Jonathan went on the river rafting trip too. It was fun to meet everyone. Quinn was the youngest child there, the next oldest was Jonathan's nine year old cousin. He kept practicing handstands and Quinn thought he was pretty cool so she had to try.

While in Eugene, we also went to a spray park. These are Quinn's new favorite thing.

We went to another one a couple days later with friends.

We bought Quinn her first backpack for some upcoming trips, it was an easy choice because her favorite color is yellow and she really likes bees. It has been a required accessory ever since. 

And our neighbors got back from a long vacation. Quinn sure missed her buddy, she was so excited to see him!

This was a big project weekend for us. We were gone most weekends in June, and July weekends are looking packed too, so we knew we had to get a lot done this weekend.

Quite a list!
-replaced some old siding corners (sanding, caulking, priming, painting)
-started sanding the picnic table and picked out paint for it
-replaced the old clothes line
-sewed a clothes pin bag
-trimmed the giant hedge
-pulled weeds
-replaced some bathroom sink parts
-sewed some shorts for Quinn out of Jonathan's old tshirts
-sewed a skirt for Quinn

We also went for a hike, had multiple park trips, Jonathan got breakfast with a dear old friend, and we had a mini Sundae Sunday (maple bacon ice cream, mmm). I harvested my first green beans, and from the looks of it we'll be eating lots of green beans for the next month or so. We had dinner at our favorite place and I can't believe what Quinn ate! They have an awesome happy hour menu that changes monthly and we usually just order a bunch of dishes. Quinn was totally loving the smoked salmon salad sandwich with cabbage, red onion, and capers (what?!) and the pasta with summer vegetables in garlic cream sauce (huh?!) And she ate her fair share of raspberry creme brulee as well.

But the highlight of the weekend had to be the Fourth of July. We went to a BBQ at some friends' house. Quinn thinks their son (who she calls Wawa) is the coolest and there were lots of families with little kids there. When it came time for fireworks, we didn't know what to expect from her. She loved it! She kept shouting, "boom!" and "pop!" In fact she fell asleep that night and woke the next morning saying, "boom!" Jonathan helped her hold a roman candle and some sparklers. Her buddy thought the fireworks were a bit too loud so he wanted to watch from his window inside. Quinn kept wanting to go in and find him. When she found him, she'd say emphatically, "Wawa, fireworks!" and point outside. She wanted him to come outside so bad! It's hilarious watching her interact with her friends these days. 

All this hot weather! We've still managed to have some fun even though it's been particularly hot these past days. Quinn finally fits into her new (to us) summer adventure shoes and will keep her Minnie Mouse (Moshie) sunglasses on.

A family in our neighborhood built a "toddler car wash". It's a wild pinterest idea obstacle course with lots of water spraying everywhere. Pretty fun!

Well, she's on her way to being two years old! I can't believe it. At 21 months, Quinn is full of imagination and giggles. She likes to give hugs and hold hands with her friends and enjoys drawing, dancing, singing, playing in water, and reading. She's very enthusiastic when she talks. I think she must be growing because she is sleeping a lot lately and she has 15 teeth (just need one more top canine). I love that she still has her wrist "bracelets" but they are fading every day. Luckily, she still has some good leg chub and quite a nice belly too. After taking breaks off and on, she is getting pretty consistent at #2 on her potty seat; getting to flush is apparently an enticing reward. Her hair is getting so long! She likes it best flowing free.

We love you, bobbaloo! You are a sweet little delight.
