I figured I ought to post about our coast trip now, or it will get lost in the mayhem of moving. We had a very nice time. We stayed at a cabin near Lincoln City. The weather was actually fairly clear for January in Oregon. It was great to spend an extended period of time with Jonathan's family.

Lisa, if you're reading this, you'll notice Quinn stayed warm in her little North Face fleece you got her.

Now, we are headed out to get our keys!

Storms, snow, and stomach sickness: it was quite a strange week around here! We've experienced a lot of rain and wind lately. On Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday it snowed off and on. I woke up in the middle of the night Monday night/Tuesday morning feeling horrible. Luckily the roads were in bad condition so Jonathan could work from home and help with Quinn.

But we managed to have some fun this week too. On Saturday morning we walked down to the local donut/bagel shop and had breakfast with friends.
Quinn discovered her foot this week and loves to grab it all the time.
She also discovered that she can sit up unassisted for a little while
and toppling over makes her giggle.
Also, she is now big enough to ride in the Ergo without the infant insert. Peekaboo!
Tomorrow we sign papers for our house and then head to the coast for the weekend with Jonathan's family. The keys are ours on Tuesday! Hooray!

What a week! We found out we get keys to our house on the 24th! Hooray! Quinn was visited by grandparents on both sides of the family this week. She also had two growth spurt days, which is always wild.

She met some exciting milestones in the past seven days. She started laughing last Friday. So cute! It occurred during a round of "Mirror Baby". She also began sleeping through the night this week. I'm going to officially call it because she did it every night but one. She had been eating at 9:30pm, 5:00am and 7:00am for a while. The times kept creeping later and later, 5:30, 5:45, 6:00. And then one morning my alarm went off at 7:00am and I realized I had slept through the night! No more middle of the night snuggles with my little tiny baby. She's growing up! I can't believe that season is over. Those wise moms warn you to savor it, and I think I did.

On a similar note, it boggles my mind to think of how much nursing has changed since those first weeks. It used to be a focused, tense activity that required a specific environment. I took baby steps nursing (with a cover) in the car, the church cry room, and at other people's homes. Now I can say I've done it at a car dealership and while playing a board game. I guess I'm growing up too :)

We're off to some friends' house and a nice weekend ahead.

I don't know about you, but I've been missing Christmas music. No other time of year has its own soundtrack really.

If you are looking for a fun new artist to listen to, you might like Josh Garrels. We heard him play at church a few weeks ago and loved his style. His lyrics are very deep and moving too. You can download his latest album for free on his website. Quinn likes dancing to "Farther Along" and "Beyond the Blue" in particular.

Just thought I'd share. Anyone out there have any recommendations?

This week's project from One Bite at a Time was to create a family mission statement. She shares some of her family's ideas and they are very inspiring. It seems like it would really help clarify how we spend our time, our money, and our energy. It would be a good way to check in and see if we are living by our values, or just coasting. Some of her ideas were live simply, cultivate deep relationships with one another, glorify God in all we say and do, and be lifelong learners. Jonathan and I have discussed this topic years ago, but now that we have a house and child I think it will be good to re-evaluate. To use the house that God has blessed us with for His purposes and to train up our child in the way she should go.

Oh, did I forget to mention? We got the house! We are waiting to find out our exact move-in date, but it will be in the next 2-3weeks! We are so excited and feel like it is a great match for us.

We enjoyed New Years and the Rose Bowl. Quinn turned three months old on Sunday. I can't believe how much she has changed. We made a highlight video of all the footage we have captured so far. It's been quite the journey. You can watch it here if you want, but I'll warn you, it's 24 minutes long. Relatives can handle that sort of time commitment, but not everyone :) We hope to make a video for each three month period so we can stay on top of it all. She has now lived in Oregon longer than California which is crazy to think about and she's lived in three houses with one more to go.
